What does the 75% symbol mean on a Waveform Monitor?
If you notice, on the right side of most waveform monitors there is a 75% symbol on the graticule aligned with the horizontal blanking (0) line. Why and what does it mean?
For analog TV, sync (the lowest level on the monitor) is that level which will (AM) modulate the carrier to 100%. Fully saturated white represents 0% modulation and blanking level is 75% modulation.
DTV also has a synchronization pulse which is the 100% modulation level, but the rest of DTV is composed of digitally encoded compressed signals, which can vary in modulation level from 0% to 75%.

Tektronix has released audio loudness measurement program
Broadcast video test, monitoring and analysis solutions market leader – Tektronix, Inc. announced that its waveform monitors in the series to add the audio loudness measurement capabilities to further enhance the performance of their products. In order to meet the needs of the current audio loudness measurement, according to a new ITU-R BS.1770-1/1771 technical specifications, Tektronix has been able to have WFM6000/7000 or WVR6000/7000 customers products with audio loudness measurement The new firmware and software upgrades. This upgrade includes additional audio loudness tables, audio loudness and the industry-leading session shows “Dolby Digital +” (Dolby Digital Plus) audio loudness monitoring functions. Tektronix’s new audio loudness measurement will be April 12 to 15 at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) 2010 show the annual meeting. Stand for the N2522.
With the analog TV to digital TV conversion, audio and video performance will be further improved, so broadcasters and program providers to offer their families more than ever, a wide dynamic range audio signal. About audio loudness of the various testing methods have been in China and Japan, to develop practical recommendations to local audio loudness. Tektronix accordance with the above specifications and guidelines for developing a new type of audio loudness measurement hardware | tools, providing easy to program producers, broadcasters and other operators to understand the audio loudness measurement method.

Audio loudness measurement applies to broadcasters, network operators, content providers and IPTV service providers

I’m using Garage Band to recored my dj sets
I been using it for almost three years now, “works great”
So I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and It updated Garage band, Now the “recording line” just runs off the screen and I can’t see what I’m recording as I record it. Where as with the old GB the “recording line” stayed in the middle and the track waveform moved. So I could see what I was recording.
I’m sure this is just a simple setting but I can’t find it. Help?!
“I’m sure this is just a simple setting” That’s exactly right! The “recording line” can easily be ‘re-sized”, look in the GB Help (TAB) Files for more details. also, make sure that you are viewing GB FULL screen by double-clicking on the “green traffic light”, beside the Red and Yellow circles.
